First 100 Days in Office!
The first 100 days in office are critical for establishing the foundation of a US presidency. To begin his term on solid ground, plus win the hearts of his people, Mr. Obama will need to do the following: Catch Bin Laden and follow through with quick and firm sentencing; provide jobs for the estimated 6 million that will be unemployed and possibly homeless due to car industry-related loss; provide affordable healthcare to all who need it, as promised; and make due diligence on less taxes for anyone making under $250K yearly.
Winning a people at the start of any Presidency has to do with satisfaction. The American people want change. They want to feel safe from terrorism, even though they haven’t got a clue on who is doing what and where it is coming from. That’s why you are the President of the United States of America, Mr. Obama - to investigate and act on the behalf of your people. No Drama Obama! Give the people what they want. Even if it isn’t the best thing for them. History has proven that the public will not love you more by doing what’s best for them. It’s what feels good at the time. Issues that affects them directly in a positive way that they will remember.
To begin the first 100 days in office, President Obama must keep all the promises he made during his campaign and debates. Even if all his mentioned desires doesn’t take place, those that do will help him breeze through a difficult four-year term in tumultuous times ahead.
1. Affordable healthcare must be put in place for the masses. People can neither afford to take their children or loved ones to the doctor, nor pay for their medical bills. A lot of sick people have become homeless. Many of those working cannot afford insurance and are working without dental, medical and certainly taking dangerous risks with their lives (diagnosis and preventative medicine) in fear of collection and costs.
2. Less taxes on anyone making under $250K yearly must be effective comes April 2009. Everyone is angry with the rich who are benefiting from bailouts and government aid. Why do the rich need even more tax breaks? Give it to the middle-class and under. It’s not much anyway and the wealthy can afford a little more. It’s worth keeping this promise.
3. Pull troops out of Iran and into Afghanistan before a full blown war (not started and ended by the USofA) breaks out new terror on the US and the rest of the world. The US is known for starting war, dragging them and ending them, if they can. Do it now, but with real results - apprehending and sentencing Bin Laden and some of his partners in crime. No one needs or wants another Iraq situation.
4. For those who oppose the Welfare System, Mr. Obama needs not worry about them. All those people who were against the welfare system will now have a change of view now that they, too, have had to get in line after losing their jobs, homes, 401Ks, stocks and savings under the collapse of Wall Street and the economy. Hopeless, helpless elderly will need welfare. Women and children left to fend for themselves when distraught husbands walk out on the situation will all need Welfare. Lower Class without jobs will all need welfare. Even some upper middle-class folk will be reaching their hands out for a monthly check. People are already fighting and killing over food if they cannot steal it in some states. Picture that. It’s the land of milk and honey where money fall from trees. This is the US which provides almost every type of food, can subsist on its own, yet many of its people are poor and starving, just like others in Third World Countries. What about the jobless homeless survivors of Katrina? Think they won’t need welfare. Mr. Obama, don’t give it a second thought.
5. Treat the public as educated adults, although many aren’t, those that are have a lot of pull. Don’t baby them. Stop the BS of equal parties. We all know that Republicans would not choose to have the White House seats filled with Democrats in majority. Why would you with Republicans? Be man enough to do the same with Republicans instead of pretending. We all know that you will be filling positions with mostly Democrats, even though you will be making some offers to some Republicans. Stop the pretend of balancing acts. Everyone understands what is going on.
6. Where’s the Foreclosure Aid? No one has seen a trace of that money yet and people continue to lose their homes. Something better be done soon from that Bailout money or all hell is going to break loose. People are walking away from their homes, mailing keys to the banks, while others are committing suicide inside of their homes, taking family members with them. Make sure that the existing White House agrees to help people stay in their homes, at least some of them, at least.
Franklin D. Roosevelt’s first 100 days set the tone for what would become the only four-term presidency in US history. No one doubts that President Elect Barack Obama will NOT be contending with Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four-term presidency. However, he can start his first 100 days in office with a Bang. Bush continued his father’s and predecessor’s vendetta by starting a war in Iraq. Obama should start the war in Afghanistan. Capture that damn Bin Laden and help the US majority recuperate both financially and through healthcare. Nailing these issues will certainly please the American people and drag his popularity through the rest of his 4-year term. Lord knows what will happen in 2012!
